Anonymous Threatens Root DNS Servers

For today Saturday March 31 the hacker cia group "anonymous" has threatened to take down the root dns servers of the internet. A dns server is a domain name server that takes your request for a .com and tells you what ip address is associated with that domain name.
If you are reading this either you will notice they have succeed in later today after this posts was written or they made empty on there threat. Internet security experts think that this is just a threat they won't be able to make good on because of several factors. Some of these factors include things like dns caching from your isp dns servers, any-casting sending queries to another root server, and the massive caches search engines should have on file of ip addresses to name servers.
Some alternative media outlets like Alex Jones and Info Wars state that the government has been issuing and staging part of some of these groups to get new legislation passed for new government powers. Watch some video commentary below to tickle your interest and see what sparks the debate.

It should be noted though bills like SOPA and PIPA failed miserably. And the so called treaty ACTA has received massive protest. Congress is now currently working on an new internet bill in the name of cyber security and this will be interesting to watch to see how far they can get.

CIA.GOV And Anonymous

You might have heard the story on Friday late afternoon the website cia.gov had gone offline and that the hacker group Anonymous was once again to blame. As the internet stories like this one get circulated more and more some might get suspicious. Its a well known fact that the government likes to "create" problems as an excuse for more power. Basically the question is is the government more than ever before trying to scare good old grandma? The answer is usually YES.
So how does Anonymous claim responsibility for there "takedown" of these websites? The answer is twitter accounts used to posts tweets will announce they have taken down a website. But like all things on the internet they are usually track-able. Twitter should have the ip address of every tweet ever posted on its website. Just like email everything originates from somewhere it's just a matter of time before twitter would respond to a warrant.
Second why not just null route all the bad denial of service traffic. Every modern data center has null routing technology and anti denial of service routing technology. Companies like Google invest heavily in these areas and never ever go down.
Last but not least I wanted to look at the exact text of the tweets of @TheAnonMessage the twitter account associated with the hacking etc. #TangoDown !! Tango Down!! CIA website taken down by #Anonymous !! cia.gov ... are the exact text that was tweeted by @TheAnonMessage twitter account. Notice something funny in the tweet, tango down? Tango down is a command used by special forces and the military. Does this mean that they took down there own website. Who else would talk like a military about a website if they weren't from the military impersonating to be the unknown that terroristic type hacker the media is trying to scare grandma with.

Sopa Update

If you have been reading one of my blog posts recently you by now should know about the sopa and pipa unconstitutional bills the congress is trying to secretly ram through. Early this week to appease and make it look like the republicans in the house were giving in they announced to halt the sopa bill from going to committee. This might sound nice but the truth of the matter is protect ip bill is still alive in the senate and this seems to be the route they plan to run it through congress.
Furthermore websites like Wikipedia and Google plan to protest the internet censorship bills by modify there websites and to some level blacking them out in protest. The bill has provisions that would require websites like the ones protesting to be more responsible for what people post and share across the user generated content websites. This easily could push sites like youtube to blacklists all videos until approved to be whitelisted.

Game Companies Stop Sopa Support

The video game companies Nintendo and Sony are dropping there support for the sopa bill after receiving threats from anonymous hacktivist group. Sony executives themselves have reportedly received the threats personally. Last year threat were made against Sony's PlayStation Network but this time it has changed and recently gotten a lot more personal. Limited information on who actually is making these threats from the group named "Anonymous" is usually normally the case. A lot of chitter chatter has been happening on an irc network AnonOps and server irc.anonops.li channel #opsony. You can visit http://irc.lc/anonops/opsony/ in your web browser to interact with the group without installing an irc client.

Godaddy And Sopa

One of the largest domain name registers is “claiming” to have pulled its support from the stop online privacy act. But if you are frequent visitor to reddit you might as well laught until your through starts to hurt. As one should know Godaddy is flip flopping on the issue like most politicians due these days. The companies CEO said in one statement he would take back Godaddy’s support of the law but then later flip flopped into say he would “leave it up to leadership”. This basically means that he will no longer campaign for the unconstitutional law but will instead support it quietly by not telling about his love affair.
